Congratulations to our 2019 FOSRX/FAST Rising Healthcare Scholarship Winner, Bailey LeBrun!
Bailey lives with Severe Hemophilia A and recently graduated high school as a member of the National Honor Society. While still in high school, Bailey also earned a medical certification as a Certified Nurse Aide, and now works at Our Lady of The Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
“Having a bleeding disorder has inspired me to pursue a medical career, therefore allowing me to help others with bleeding disorders as well as other chronic conditions. I feel that living with chronic medical condition has made me be more empathetic to others.”
Bailey is an incoming freshman at Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC), and will pursue a career in nursing. With the help of this scholarship and the support of his family, Bailey is well on his way to reaching his ultimate goal of becoming a nurse practitioner.
I don’t let my condition hold me back. I use it as drive to push me harder.-Bailey LeBrun
As part of our scholarship program, recipients now attend an event as a scholarship ambassador throughout the year. Bailey helped us run a booth at a superhero themed hemophilia fundraiser this month. Everyone had a great time.
It is an honor to support students like him in their educational pursuits. We wish you the best of luck, Bailey, and have a great school year!
