Congratulations to our 2019 FOSRX/FAST Platinum Scholarship Winner, Mihir Joshi. He was an outstanding applicant and received the highest scholarship FOSRX/FAST offers, for $5,000 towards his education.
Mihir lives with Severe Hemophilia A and attends the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine as a Doctoral Student. He is pursuing a career in medicine and hopes to practice in pediatrics.
“Hemophilia provided me with a community that not only allowed excellent care for my condition, but also fostered a passion for medicine and healthcare. My experiences instilled in me a responsibility to advocate for and provide care for the generations to come. Beyond the physical, emotional and financial costs of my disease, I am eternally thankful for the purpose it has given me in my education and career to come.”-Mihir Joshi
Mihir is a proud advocate and representative of the bleeding disorders community as a student and citizen. He has served as a camp counselor at Camp Hemotion in Northern California, worked for the betterment of the 340B Drug Reimbursement Program that many treatment centers use as a congressional legislative intern, and has promoted physician advocacy for children as a research assistant to the Stanford Pediatric Advocacy Program. He takes pride in reciprocating the mentorship and warmth received by the providers and patients of the bleeding disorders community.
It is an honor to support students like him in their educational pursuits. We wish you the best of luck, Mihir, and have a great school year!
