Rare Disease Day 2016

IMG_3853 2Today is Rare Disease Day 2016, an awareness campaign put on by www.rarediseaseday.org.

Many of the conditions we treat at #FactorOneSourcePharmacy are considered rare diseases, meaning they affect fewer than 200,000 Americans. Rare diseases vary not only from disease to disease, but also from patient to patient suffering from the same disease, which is why specialized care and quality treatment are so important.

At FOSRx it is our mission to serve patients with chronic medical conditions that require detailed specialized medication management. Our team of healthcare professionals customize home infusion and specialty needs, and the extensive monitoring required to generate favorable outcomes. We encourage patient advocacy and spreading awareness for the conditions which affect our patients’ lives. We love our rare patients, and will bend over backwards to offer the best care available.

Press Release: FOSRx Announces URAC Accreditation

Cumberland, MD, January 28 2016 — Factor One Source Pharmacy, a Specialty Pharmacy dealing primarily with chronic and hard-to-manage medical conditions, announced yesterday that the URAC Accreditation Committee has granted it Full Accreditation under the URAC Standards. URAC is an independent and widely known healthcare organization that establishes quality standards within the medical industry.

The URAC Accreditation, a process which can take several months, is effective for three years for both FOSRx’s Cumberland, Maryland flagship pharmacy and the Dickson, Tennessee branch. The accreditation term begins February 1, 2016 through February 1, 2019.

AccreditationSealThis announcement comes after another successful accreditation status and Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission in the fall of 2015. Achieving dual accreditation is not an easy task, and only a handful of pharmacies across the nation have succeeded in this endeavor. By achieving dual accreditation, FOSRx has better positioned itself to strategically expand and proactively respond to today’s healthcare industry while continuing to deliver excellent patient care.

Receiving top marks from URAC validates the quality of our work by demonstrating adherence to the national standards for a Specialty Pharmacy,” Dr. Sajal Roy, PharmD, CSP, CGP, CPSO, CACP, and CEO of FOSRx said. “Our strategic goal is to maintain dual accreditations with URAC and The Joint Commission, which will position us as a top leader in Specialty Pharmacy services.”

Both accreditations ensure the highest levels of regulatory compliance while elevating the standard of operations within the organization by providing a framework to improve business processes, and quality care.

“It is critically important for healthcare organizations to make a commitment to quality and accountability. URAC accreditation is a demonstration of that commitment,” URAC President and CEO, Kylanne Green said.

About URAC:

URAC, a DC-based independent, nonprofit organization, is a well-known leader in promoting healthcare quality through its accreditation, education, and measurement programs. URAC offers a wide range of quality benchmarking programs and services that model the rapid changes in the healthcare system and provide a symbol of excellence for organizations to validate their commitment to quality and accountability. Through its broad-based governance structure and an inclusive standards development process, URAC ensures that all stakeholders are represented in establishing meaningful quality measures for the entire healthcare industry. For more information about URAC, call 202-216-9010 or visit www.urac.org.

FOSRx Supports Charity Event

Last weekend, members of the Factor One Source Pharmacy (FOSRx) team attended the 60th Annual Diamond Anniversary Snow Ball in Cumberland, Maryland to sponsor a charity event. The Snow Ball was hosted by the Western Maryland Health System Auxiliary (WMHS), and Factor One Source Pharmacy had the privilege of being Diamond Sponsors, which was the highest level sponsor.

Proceeds from the 2016 Snow Ball will go toward the Health System’s new Intensive Care Telemedicine Program. This program complements the care being provided locally with around-the-clock remote monitoring by intensivists for an extra layer of care. Founded in 2004, the WMHS Auxiliary is devoted exclusively to providing meaningful assistance to the patients and staff of the Western Maryland Health System. The FOSRx team was happy to contribute to and support the success of such worthy cause.

Factor One Source Pharmacy was founded in 2014, and has always made it a point to support good causes annually. In addition to providing individualized resources for patients, FOSRx has also implemented a 3-tier scholarship program to help young students affected by chronic illnesses pursue higher education, and makes it a point to sponsor medical-related research and charity events such as this.

National Caregivers Month

When you have a chronic illness or complicated medical condition, you usually need the help and support of others at one point or another.  At Factor One Source Pharmacy, we recognize this November as National Caregivers Month, and celebrate the of thousands of men and women who selflessly care for people in need of ongoing help.

Taken from the CDC website:

Caregiving takes many forms. Many of us help out family members and friends who are older, sick, or disabled every day but don’t think of ourselves as caregivers. Caregiving can range from providing short- or long-term financial assistance or running errands to providing comprehensive round-the-clock care. Although some people receive care from paid caregivers, most rely on unpaid assistance from families, friends and neighbors. Many people become caregivers unexpectedly, which can be very difficult.

So here’s our shout-out to all the people our patients rely on: the caregivers. To you we say, THANK YOU.  You’re amazing, and often times, under-appreciated.
