Cumberland, MD, January 28 2016 — Factor One Source Pharmacy, a Specialty Pharmacy dealing primarily with chronic and hard-to-manage medical conditions, announced yesterday that the URAC Accreditation Committee has granted it Full Accreditation under the URAC Standards. URAC is an independent and widely known healthcare organization that establishes quality standards within the medical industry.
The URAC Accreditation, a process which can take several months, is effective for three years for both FOSRx’s Cumberland, Maryland flagship pharmacy and the Dickson, Tennessee branch. The accreditation term begins February 1, 2016 through February 1, 2019.
This announcement comes after another successful accreditation status and Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission in the fall of 2015. Achieving dual accreditation is not an easy task, and only a handful of pharmacies across the nation have succeeded in this endeavor. By achieving dual accreditation, FOSRx has better positioned itself to strategically expand and proactively respond to today’s healthcare industry while continuing to deliver excellent patient care.
“Receiving top marks from URAC validates the quality of our work by demonstrating adherence to the national standards for a Specialty Pharmacy,” Dr. Sajal Roy, PharmD, CSP, CGP, CPSO, CACP, and CEO of FOSRx said. “Our strategic goal is to maintain dual accreditations with URAC and The Joint Commission, which will position us as a top leader in Specialty Pharmacy services.”
Both accreditations ensure the highest levels of regulatory compliance while elevating the standard of operations within the organization by providing a framework to improve business processes, and quality care.
“It is critically important for healthcare organizations to make a commitment to quality and accountability. URAC accreditation is a demonstration of that commitment,” URAC President and CEO, Kylanne Green said.
URAC, a DC-based independent, nonprofit organization, is a well-known leader in promoting healthcare quality through its accreditation, education, and measurement programs. URAC offers a wide range of quality benchmarking programs and services that model the rapid changes in the healthcare system and provide a symbol of excellence for organizations to validate their commitment to quality and accountability. Through its broad-based governance structure and an inclusive standards development process, URAC ensures that all stakeholders are represented in establishing meaningful quality measures for the entire healthcare industry.
