Spring Renewal

Today, March 20, marks the astronomical spring in the Northern Hemisphere, also known as equinox. Since night and day are nearly exactly the same length – 12 hours – all over the world the event literally means ‘equal night’ (equi – equal, and nox – night). The equinox marks the change of seasons, as the balance of light shifts to make for longer days or nights. It usually means that it’s time to hunker down for colder seasons, or time to rise and shine for warmer ones.

At Factor One Source Pharmacy, we certainly “hunkered down” during the colder season, working hard put all the necessary ‘ducks in a row’ to acquire FAST Access Specialty Therapeutics (F.A.S.T.) at the end of 2016. As FOSRx and F.A.S.T. have joined forces, we have learned from both teams and have made it a point to maintain best practices, while adopting new ways of tackling problems in order to be our very best. Since then, our dual companies have built a strong sense of unity and trust during the hard work and reorganization required of our transition. We, too, are now ready to “rise and shine” as the warmer season approaches.

“I am happy to say more progress is being made with the integration of our two companies. Each of our companies have aspects that we do really well.  As we can harvest those attributes, learn, integrate, and operationalize, the integration of the two companies will optimize what we each do BEST.” -Dr. Sajal Roy, CEO

Just as spring brings new life and opportunities to the nature around us, it also provides new opportunities for taking the wheel of your life. We encourage you to do this by making new goals of managing your medical care on your terms, and by ultimately taking control of your health. We have a renewed goal to provide our patients with amazing customer service. You can count on us.

We are now able to accept even more insurance plans and both teams combined offer more experience both in the field and in our pharmacies. Contact us today to ask our Patient Navigators how we can help you.

FAST Access Rx Awarded Specialty Pharmacy ACHC Accreditation

Metairie, LA February 13, 2017 — Fast Access Specialty Therapeutics (FAST), a specialty pharmacy that was recently acquired by Factor One Source Pharmacy (FOSRx), announce today that they have officially earned Accreditation Commission of Healthcare (ACHC) Accreditation in the field of Specialty Pharmacy (SRX).

The ACHC held their rigorous on-site survey of FAST in Metairie, Louisiana on January 26th, 2017 and granted accreditation to FAST for all services surveyed under the Specialty Pharmacy on February 3, 2017. During the survey, compliance with ACHC standards reflecting key organizational areas were evaluated.

FAST already holds accreditations with The Joint Commission and URAC. Holding three accreditations is extremely rare within the specialty pharmacy industry, and is a process that often takes months or years to achieve. Factor One Source Pharmacy (FOSRx), parent company to FAST Rx also maintains accreditation with URAC and The Joint Commission. All three accreditations will ensure the highest levels of regulatory compliance while elevating the standard of operations within their organization by providing a framework to improve business processes, and quality care.

“We are proud of the entire company and clinical team that made this accreditation a reality,” Dr. Sajal Roy, PharmD, CSP, CGP, CPSO, CACP, and CEO of FOSRx said.

Established in 1986, The ACHC Accreditation program supports the efforts of its accredited organizations to help deliver safe, high quality care and services. Accreditation is regarded as one of the key benchmarks for measuring the quality of an organization. The accreditation process also provided FOSRx with education and guidance to help staff continue to improve its program’s performance.

“Each accreditation affirms our processes that we put in place to make sure our patients get the best care and have the best outcomes for their disease states” Roy said. “Our strategic goal is to maintain all accreditations within our organization to demonstrate that we are top leader in Specialty Pharmacy services.”

ACHC is a recognized leader in the area of Pharmacy Accreditation, and  reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective care.  An SRX dispenses medications (injectable, intravenous or oral) in a client’s/patient’s home, physician’s office, or clinic specializing in certain disease states which are often chronic and sometimes life-threatening.  With the continuous changes in health care, patients are in search of reputable providers that consistently offer the best quality care and demonstrate the ability to maintain compliance with national standards.

Accreditation Commission for Health Care:

The Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) is a national organization developed by homecare and alternate-site healthcare industry providers. Our board, advisors, surveyors and staff are committed to providing the industry with an accreditation program that helps organizations improve business operations, quality of patient care and services.

ACHC is an independent, private, not-for-profit corporation.

ACHC has gained respect and recognition as an accrediting organization uniquely committed to health care providers. They have adopted a participatory approach to standards development that actively solicits the input of those most knowledgeable about current approaches to care. The result is a set of practical standards that promotes quality services and ensures optimum care for the patient. The entire accreditation process is a collaborative, educational, and genuinely patient-focused approach.

FOSRx Pharmacist Spotlight: Jennifer Burton, D.Ph.

WIN_20160503_09_39_22_Pro (2)Today at Factor One Source Pharmacy we are pleased to feature Jennifer Burton, D.Ph., the Pharmacy Director of our Dickson, Tennessee location. Burton joined the FOSRx Team in February, 2016 and brings a wealth of experience through her more than 2 decades of working in the industry.

Each of our pharmacists have been actively pursuing licensure in multiple states in order to provide the best possible service to our patients.  Burton has so far succeeded in becoming licensed in both Tennessee and Kentucky, and plans to take on more states in the future. In addition, she intends to become a board certified Specialty Pharmacist, which is experience based and also requires passing a test covering multiple specialties, including inflammatory diseases, oncology infectious-HIV,hepatitis, MS, blood disorders, immune disorders, and more.

While certifications and licensures require some continued education, Burton feels that doing elective Continuing Medical Education is simply good practice.

“I like to take care of my patients like I would my friends and family, so that means knowing as much as I can in order to be in a good position to do that.”

Burton’s professional background was originally in the community pharmacy field. While she enjoyed her work, she had substantial frustrations while working with big corporations. She felt that customer service suffered because every decision was driven by numbers and metrics.

Jennifer Burton-min“Being at a smaller company allows for better service all around,” she said.  “If something needs to be fixed, it’s easier to accomplish because I don’t have to go through multiple layers of management who have pretty much no power to resolve problems efficiently.  There’s more of a family feel and focus on the patient.”

Born in Nashville, Burton always knew that she would like to end up somewhere in the medical/scientific community, but never foresaw becoming a pharmacist.  “My original plan was marine biology and working at SeaWorld, but that was a little far from home, and was probably a little less than realistic,” she said.  She abandoned that idea her senior year in high school and decided to pursue other ventures. At some point during her sophomore year at Ole Miss, her advisor suggested that she take the PCAT, which which was being administered within a few weeks of their conversation. She took it and was accepted for the following fall, and the rest is history. “I love where I am now and think Specialty Pharmacy work is going to be a great fit for me.”

Burton loves spending her free time at the lake with her husband,  two daughters, and their chocolate lab named Zeke. She can be contacted at jburton@fosrx.com, or by calling: 844.773.6779 ext. 107.
